NNPC vendor registration and SAP Ariba supplier onboarding in Nigeria

Which NNPC registration do you need?

NNPC Limited moved its procurement process to SAP Ariba from January 2025. Supplier profiles, requests, bids, negotiations, purchase orders and invoices are handled through that procurement environment. Upstream tender eligibility can still require an active NIPEX qualification under the correct product code.

A company offering upstream services should also hold the permit that supports its category. Review the NUPRC permit application page before requesting work your current permit does not cover.

Companies that may register with NNPC

NNPC supplier routes are not the same

The phrase NNPC vendor registration is used for several different processes. The correct route depends on whether the company wants procurement work, an upstream tender or a retail marketing agreement.

01

NNPC SAP Ariba supplier profile

This is the NNPC Limited procurement environment for supplier profiles and purchasing activity. Registration begins through an official NNPC invitation or supplier route.

02

NIPEX and NJQS qualification

This supports many upstream tender opportunities. The supplier must be active in the product or service code stated in the tender notice.

03

NNPC Retail marketer application

This is for a Bulk Purchase Agreement, dealership, affiliation or related retail activity. It is not the general contractor vendor route.

NNPC vendor registration requirements

NNPC evaluates the supplier as a legal business and as a capable provider. The final questionnaire and category determine the exact uploads.

1

CAC Certificate of Incorporation and current company records

2

Tax Identification Number and current Tax Clearance Certificate

3

Company ownership, directors, bank and audited financial information

4

Valid NUPRC or NMDPRA permit for the proposed petroleum service

5

NCDMB and NIPEX records where the tender or category requires them

6

HSE system, staff CVs, equipment, completed jobs and references

How to complete NNPC supplier registration

NNPC’s official supplier notice confirms that procurement moved to SAP Ariba. The supplier must use a traceable NNPC invitation or procurement contact and keep its company identity consistent with any NIPEX profile.

1. Confirm the NNPC business route

Identify whether the need is NNPC procurement, an upstream NIPEX tender or an NNPC Retail marketer agreement.

2. Select the service category

Match the proposed scope to the buyer’s commodity group and any NIPEX product code named in an opportunity.

3. Prepare the supplier file

Check corporate, tax, financial, permit, HSE and technical evidence before starting the questionnaire.

4. Complete the official profile

Create or connect the company account, enter the requested data and upload clear current documents.

5. Complete qualification

Answer review questions and keep the approved profile, contacts and product codes current for future opportunities.

What delays NNPC vendor onboarding?

The largest source of confusion is using the wrong NNPC route. A retail marketer application cannot create a procurement supplier profile, and a basic Ariba profile does not replace NIPEX product code qualification where a tender requires it.

Use only NNPC, NIPEX or verified procurement communication. A payment request from a private account is not an official supplier instruction.

The applicant uses an NNPC Retail route for a contractor or supplier request.

The company name, CAC number or contact differs between Ariba and NIPEX.

The required NIPEX product code is missing or not pre qualified.

Petroleum permits, tax records or HSE documents have expired.

The service category is not supported by staff, equipment or completed work.

Prepare the NIPEX qualification behind an NNPC tender

Many upstream opportunities state that only suppliers pre qualified under a named NJQS code will receive the tender. Review the NIPEX registration page before an advert closes.

What is NNPC vendor registration?

It is the supplier onboarding and qualification process that allows NNPC Limited or an NNPC business to record a company for relevant procurement activity.

Yes. NNPC Limited announced that its procurement processes would move to the SAP Ariba Network from 1 January 2025, including requests, bids, orders and invoices.

You may. An NNPC supplier profile and NIPEX qualification are separate records, but upstream tender notices often require the bidder to be active in a named NIPEX product code.

Prepare CAC records, tax clearance, ownership and director information, bank and audited financial records, relevant permits, HSE evidence, staff, equipment and completed work.

No. The retail portal handles Bulk Purchase Agreements, dealership and related marketer services. Contractors and general suppliers need the applicable procurement route.

NNPC does not publish one approval time for every supplier category. The timeline depends on invitation, category demand, document review and any linked NIPEX qualification.

NNPC’s official SAP Ariba supplier notice does not publish a direct profile fee, so the expected basic NNPC supplier registration charge is ₦0 unless NNPC issues a verifiable invoice. NIPEX is separate, and the official NIPEX fee page lists ₦30,000 for registration and ₦25,000 for annual renewal. Visit or contact us before paying so we can confirm which process applies and help you avoid losing money.

No. An approved supplier profile allows consideration for suitable procurement activity. NNPC still evaluates demand, tender compliance, technical response and commercial terms.

Relevant upstream opportunities are often published through NIPEX. Approved suppliers should keep their product codes and official contacts current so they can receive eligible invitations.
