How to get a DUNS number in Nigeria
Dun & Bradstreet’s official DUNS guidance says to search for the company before requesting a new number. Companies using the Nigerian Vend R route should follow the buyer’s named portal because that route includes additional document validation.

Check whether the application needs only a DUNS number, a certificate or a paid Vend R validation report.

Look for an existing DUNS number using the exact legal name, address and telephone before creating a duplicate request.
3. Prepare legal details

5. Resolve verification

What delays a DUNS application?
Dun & Bradstreet must distinguish the applicant from companies with similar names and confirm one exact location. Conflicting addresses or duplicate requests can slow the match and verification.

What is the meaning of DUNS?

Is a DUNS number the same as a CAC number?
No. CAC issues the Nigerian company registration number. Dun & Bradstreet issues the DUNS number for its global business identity database.
Does a Nigerian company need a DUNS number?
The number is not required simply to operate a Nigerian business. A buyer, operator, lender or international marketplace may request it for identity checks and supplier onboarding.
What documents are needed for a DUNS number?

Does a DUNS number expire?
No. Dun & Bradstreet states that the number is issued once and does not expire or change. The company information linked to it should still be updated when details change.
How much is a DUNS certificate in Nigeria?
Dun & Bradstreet states on its official DUNS page that the basic number costs ₦0. A paid Dun & Bradstreet Nigeria Vend R validation is a separate service, and its amount is provided inside the buyer specific registration route. Can I have more than one DUNS number?
Separate business locations, branches or subsidiaries may have separate DUNS numbers. One legal location should not receive duplicate numbers because of spelling or address differences.

Yes. Seplat requires a Dun & Bradstreet certificate with a DUNS number before it starts the second stage of vendor registration. Follow the Vend R validation route named by Seplat.
